Wiring a Fan, Contactor etc
Warning: If powering an expansion board it should be at the same Voltage as the WatchMon.
Warning: For large (or unknown) loads make sure you use an external relay/SSR (solid state relays) that is appropriate for the rated purpose.
Choose appropriate option for your needs
Options for Wiring include
- Wiring to WatchMonCORE onboard Relay A
- Wiring to Expansion 3 board Relay 1, 2 or 3
- Wiring to Expansion 3 board Solid State Relays 4, 5 or 6
- Wiring to Expansion 2 board Relay 1 or 2
- Wiring to Expansion 2 board Solid State Relays 3 or 4
- Wiring a Fan to On-board Mosfet Output WatchMon - 5pin
- Wiring a Fan using Supply DC-DC to On-board Output WatchMon - 5pin
- Wiring a Fan to On-board Mosfet Output WatchMon - 4pin
- Wiring a Fan using Supply DC-DC to On-board Output WatchMon - 4pin
Limitations
With a 48V circuit breaker an external relay appropriately sized, Mosfets that can handle 48V on either the WatchMon or Expansion 2 or Expansion 3 Solid State Relays 60V / 5A can be used. The Mechanical Relays on Expansion 2 and Expansion 3 are rated to 30V / 5A only
Expansion board if powered should be at the same voltage as the WatchMon.
1. Wiring to WatchMonCORE Onboard Relay A
- Mechanical relay Max 30Vdc 5A
- Labelled as Relay A
- User defined function
2. Wiring to Expansion Board 3, Onboard Relay 1, 2 or 3
- Up to 3 Mechanical relay Max 30Vdc 5A
- Labelled as Relay 1, 2, and 3
- User defined function
3. Wiring to Expansion Board 3,
Onboard Solid State Relays 5, 6 and 7
- Up to 3 Solid State Relay SSR 3 to 65Vdc 5A (1 way disconnect)
- Labelled as SSR 5, 6, and 7
- User defined function(s)
4. Wiring to Expansion Board 2, Relay 1 or Relay 2
Note: Relay 1 and Relay 2 are mechanical and hence rated to 30V / 5A
5. Wiring to Expansion 2 Board Solid State Relays 3 or 4
Note: Relay 3 and Relay 4 are Solid State Relays and hence rated to 60V / 5A
6. Wiring a Fan to On-board Mosfet Output WatchMon - 5pin
Note: Mosfets are used for onboard outputs on WM 4 / 5 / 7. The 5 pin output version includes a Output P for Power and this is attached to the Positive.
Warning: Mosfets should only be used with items of known inrush within the rating of the mosfet. If unsure use a relay.
If powering WatchMon using your battery pack, the fan should be the same voltage as the battery pack voltage.
7. Wiring a Fan using Supply DC-DC to On-board Output WatchMon - 5pin
Please Note that DC-DC should be used to power WatchMon at the voltage you need for your outputs. Therefore if using a 24V fan or contactor then use the appropriate DC-DC to feed 24V into the WatchMon.
The DC-DC should be before the power not between the WatchMon and load. Placing the DC-DC after the output voids the warranty.
8. Wiring a Fan to On-board Output WatchMon - 4pin
If powering WatchMon using your battery pack, the fan should be the same voltage as the battery pack voltage.
9. Wiring a Fan using Supply DC-DC to On-board Output WatchMon - 4pin
