Multistring vs Second WatchMon
We have had a bit of confusion from customers lately surrounding Multistring.
Multistring is where a customer can manage multiple equivalent parallel banks using one (1) WatchMon supervisor.
The key to making Multistring work is the parallel banks need to be equivalent and managed together, with the same targets.
Requirements for equivalence might include.
- same pack voltage
- same battery chemistry
- same SOC% (after bank is balanced of course)
- same capacity (Ah)
If any of the following are needed then this isn't multistring and you need to either eliminate the requirement or manage with a separate WatchMon supervisor
- Loads on one bank and not the others
- circuit breaker for each bank
- Charging/Discharging only part whole system
- Each bank Located substantially apart
